A key takeaway from Socratic philosophy regarding knowledge is that it should always be questioned. Socrates famously employed a method of inquiry known as the Socratic method, which involved asking a series of probing questions to stimulate critical thinking and illuminate ideas. This approach reveals that knowledge is not static or absolute; rather, it requires continuous examination and dialogue to deepen understanding. Socrates believed that through questioning, individuals could uncover their own ignorance and arrive at greater truths.

In contrast, the other options suggest perspectives on knowledge that do not align with Socratic thought. The idea that knowledge is absolute and unchanging contradicts the emphasis on inquiry and growth. Viewing knowledge as a subjective experience does not reflect Socrates' commitment to a shared truth or objective understanding. Lastly, saying that knowledge is based solely on rational thought overlooks the importance of dialogue and the role of questions in exploring and expanding one's understanding. Thus, questioning knowledge, as highlighted in the correct choice, is central to Socratic philosophy.
